My HouseThat's right, I bought a house! In January, I got a real job, so I figured it was about time that I moved out of my apartment. Closing is on Friday, February 24 (2006), and I'm moving on the 25th. Here are some pictures, videos, and other general information about the house in case you're interested. General Information
1893 square feet 0.69 acre lot Built in 1997 6208 Thurlow Court (map) Holly Springs, NC 27540 News and UpdateThu, Feb 23, 2006 -- I just finished closing on the house! The keys are here in my pocket. Unfortunately, I'm busy all evening so I won't be able to get out there until about 9pm tonight. But I'll probably take a load of boxes down there as an excuse to spend some time at the house. Tue, Feb 21, 2006 -- This morning, I met Bob (my realtor) out at the house and did a final walk-through to make sure they fixed everything they promised. It all looks great. Looks like the cable guy was out there too because there are orange lines painted in the yard for where the cable line will be laid. Fri, Feb 17, 2006 -- I finally got all the paperwork finished, and the final closing date was moved up a day to Thursday, Feb 23. I'm working evenings next week and plan to take Friday off to pack and take a couple loads of boxes over. Friends from Josh's church are coming Saturday morning to help us move furniture, but that should only take a couple hours. Maybe I'll sleep over there next Thursday after closing. It's sure tempting! Tue, Feb 14, 2006 -- Today, I was completely freaked out. I called to have cable Internet hooked up to the new house, and they said that it wasn't available. I work from home, so that would be a disaster! As it turns out, I'm just incompetant and didn't give them the right address. It's scheduled to be hooked up on the 25th. NEW: Video (QuickTime, 20mb)PicturesPropertyWake County has an amazing GIS system online. This is a satellite photograph taken in 1999 of my property. Superimposed on this photograph are the property lines in the area. My house is outlined in blue. Since this picture was taken, they added on a breakfast room and porch off the back. They also planted more trees on the southern part of the property.
Here is another image, this one is zoomed out so you can see a couple square miles. Notice all the farm land and forests. I like this image because it shows the rural setting very well. The red circle is my house. It is in a small housing addition called "Oliver Creek". The farm directly north of Cross Ridge Drive and west of Oliver Creek Parkway contains a herd longhorn cattle.
